2022 Design Senior Showcase Website

Every year, the Western Washington University Department of Design collects the portfolio pages, headshots, and favorite pieces of its graduating BA students, creating a showcase page linked from the design program website. Students are selected to give the page a unique look and feel for each year.

Concept
The overall layout of the site was somewhat dictated by previous years of the showcase: a grid of square black and white headshots which change to color artwork on hover have been a successful combination before. On the other hand, using the title lockup as the main motion piece was a choice made to contrast 2021’s showcase, which had an animated background instead.
Layout
The purple concept was the most successful. I finalized it as a three-column grid, refined the type, and created the header animated GIF.
Once layout and assets were complete, I passed the project to my partner Dennis Benlot, who wrote the copy and coded the page.
